Moved the Blog into a Domain

Just a quick update. A year ago or so I’ve moved fully into a website, which is a lot better and I’ve more control over it than the blog here. But I never mentioned that here ^_^

I just saw lots of traffic came to this blog, and was worried that people thing that there isn’t a content since the Coated greenlight post (in fact Coated has passed long time ago :D) , so I decided to post a one last post here to direct to the actual website for my stuff (games, tools, tutorials, articles and BOOKS)

Let’s move the traffic there :

Coated Official Site

OK, it was not too long, after the T-Shirts, i found the site should be there, working & looks good. May be am not a good web-developer, but a site for me will be just to show the game & put some updates or so.

Here the site of Coated, it looks pretty simple, but get the job done, I had to- and have to- focus more in other stuff like fixing, upgrading & finishing Coated Plus the other mini games am working on. There is lots of new updated related to Coated, but am so busy right now to finish a hundred task at work early morning beside another hundred task for next update of Coated to be shown in To…..(let’s keep it a surprise).

Decay, DeveLog #02

OK, here a quick Update. I managed to work more in the UI. Last time i worked in the UI, it was building it. but now all the UI functionality are written, Starting from a puse button, exit button, collecting the atoms and save it in the score and a new time counter. I managed to put in this counter 3 values instead of just one value like the demo. So, not the counter record (00 : 00 : 00 ) (Seconds : Milliseconds : Half of Milliseconds). So, the player can have a nice competition in the leader board with this milliseconds πŸ˜‰ Also fixed a major issue where the Atom was able to be moved behind the UI. it was working fine in the demo because the UI was without any background, but now the top part of the screen covered underneath the UI with a solid black.


The movement of the the Atom not 100% smooth, even more than using mouse πŸ˜€ and the main menu optimized, the Textures & Shaders optimized to. And the game perfectly run 30fps πŸ™‚

ِAlso, i found it might be useful for the gameplay wise to give a reason for the death on borders. So, i managed to put some beams on that border. It might be changed later, Ummm…Still have no accurate decision for that !

Another Updates, Harmonic is now officially out of the PSVita competition. They said the game had a version before ONLINE. It was the old 1.0A, which was half way from the game now πŸ™‚ or may be less. Anyway, good luck to the others, am sure that “Harmonic” was about to be the #1 πŸ˜‰ at least because it is my game, or may be because other competitors said that on the forums, twitter & facebook πŸ™‚

Decay, DeveLog #01

Hey, it is just a quick screenshot after almost a week of working in the full version of Decay. This image contain a Half way of the new UI in progress. Even while writing this post the UI is different than the screenshot πŸ˜€

The game now can run smoothly on iPad III & IV. I will try my best to test in I, II & Mini. I have optimized some shaders, meshes, fonts, animations and post processing effects, and it can run now 100% 30FPS inside XCode. By the way, i really like the new debugging tools in the latest XCode4.6.2. Enjoy following the game, and if you have iPad2, 3 or mini (1024*768), and you are interested in alpha and beta testing Decay, drop me an email, or post here and I will contact you to get you UDID and add you to the precious volunteers list πŸ˜€

“A Working day”, “Outlaws”, “Decay” and more !

I had to admit that, this last month i was “MASSIVELY” busy. Yes, a lot of news, and updates I have here in my pocket. The new job keeps me busy on day time, and some of my free time i keep thinking about work & it’s problems. Thinking more about my country and what’s going on there and being worried about my family, friends and all people in my lovely Egypt, keeps me little out of the track.
I had started couple of projects this month “three projects”. I was waiting this month from a long time, because “Game tako” was promising the community with a huge PSVita competition, and the winner will have a deal with Sony to publish his game on PSVita. I managed to focus more on the development of the game. So, i decided to work with a 3d artist – and it was my fault !!
Normally if the game am going to make will take some time, i prefer to make a time plan before doing anything. And as you can see in the time plan, all the duration we have around 34 day .

The marked gray area represents the time the artist spent before i cancel working with him. Simply i got in more than 50% of the project time, just 15% of the assets !
I guess it was my mistake to work with him again, as it is not my first time to have problems because of him ! he is the type of people who have 100 EXCUSE every day !

Anyway, i managed to submit another and more simple game.Β  “Harmonic”, as it is fitting the theme of the competition “Team Spirit”, at the end of the day, and it’s art is simple for me to handle it myself.. It is better than nothing !


While i was waiting the artist to give me anything , i started pitching a quick project “it must take more time, as it is huge game”, it is a game like GTA2, or Monaco, but in a brand new style and gameplay, i had to say, this game is really open world game πŸ˜‰ – this on hold project i called it “OUTLAWS” !

Finally, and the game number three in this month list. I applied to Ludumdare48, the Ludumdare27, i really like the theme which was “10Seconds”, and i made a nice game, which i really liked & i will keep updating, improving it starting from next week. I called that game “Decay”.



“Decay” is about a radioactive quantity which is decaying in 10 seconds [it’s half-life is 10 seconds]. So, you had to collect the 4 protons before it decays, and you had to do that as quick as possible & as accurate as possible. I had to say that, the full version which will be available very soon for IOS/Android and may be Facebook later, will have lots of gameplay changes like :
– Power ups
– Completed leaderboards
– Achievements
– More collectables
– Different enemies

Beside all of that am trying to be a good family member ^_^ not isolated too much as i will “and should” be a lot isolated starting from October . And i was going a lot to hospitals this month, and will keep doing next month too, i don’t know how danger it is, but doctors keep moving me between departments !


Last thing, i have some good news, which made all this busy month, a happy month for me. I will share all on time, keep tuned for the next month, when some dreams comes true πŸ˜‰
