A Nice Photo for me in Kickstarter

I was a lot busy this last month in moving, finishing the first stable demo of “Coated”, learning some stuff and participating in game jams πŸ™‚

Shanghai GameJam

Hi;

Yasterday was a great day for me. It is my first time to visit aΒ foreign game jam [Shanghai Game Jam]. yes i participated in lots of foreign jams, but 100% Online. But this is the first time to go and meet people inside the battle field. It was a nice experience, and i met new great friends, programmers and artists. Yes i didn’t take that huge part of making game because i was little busy, but i enjoyed the experience of a native Chinese game jam.

A quick image

While working i saw the old post of announcing Tako. But anyway, now we have a modified version of the character, and by the way i rigged TAKO 4 times πŸ™‚ And this image from a test pose i did and liked in the last time i skinned him. So, i found it will be funny to add his name and make it a funny image for us πŸ˜€

Tako, What finished now !

OOOOK, now am try to work most of my free time in TAKO, to make a fine progress in it. The reason behind it , because it is the first running game i ever do, i always used to make puzzles 70%. But TAKO will be my first indie runner, and i guess it was pretty good to work in TAKO. After couple of days of starting my work in TAKO, i got a deal to make an indie game to some friends company in Egypt. They have a nice TV show will be run through the coming Ramadan Month, and i will make a running game (third person one) to the TV show. So, i guess Tako get me some luck.

So, why the progress is little slow in TAKO, in fact TAKO is just one thing in my busy day πŸ˜€ i had to deal with my work (which bring me some money to stay alive, my self & my family), plus am working in other couple of projects (indie ones of course). Coated is the major thing in my daily indie work, because the game now is in a real production stage & i had to take care of it. But working in Coated in all my free time, made me feel boring, this is why i started working in the other old projects and added TAKO to my list. So, hope me a good luck to finish everything in it’s time πŸ™‚

The progress in the top video, i added some background elements, an image i loved from Google πŸ˜€ and some contrast looping in the background i really liked from LIMBO. There is always some fixes in the animations, controller. And there is a water shader in top of the level to simulate the water surface , Plus the function of Octopus Ink, which make him go to background or foreground in addition to avoid some obstacles. Hope you like it πŸ™‚

Tako, Animation finished

Hey everyone, couple of days i recorded this video while working in the first animation clip for Tako. But i was little busy. So, i managed to upload it & give the post in the weekend.

OK, now Tako himself has 4 clips :

1- Moving up 2- Moving down 3- Idle 4- Inking

This quick video showing my way to make a quick animations, it contain the first clip only. I will show the rest of the clips later when i have time. No i finished the control system of Tako it self which contain all it’s movement, and designing now the background, assets, enemies.

Little about the game, it is looks like a running game, except it is under water. After lots of thinking i found Tako will not be nice game if it is out of the water, and what makes Tako looks a funny Octopus is the animations of a real Octopus. So, he is running and trying to excape from some enemies and obstacles. With the ability to collect some collectables.

What i added to the Original character is just 2 quick things, but i guess it willa dd more to the characterstics of Tako while he move. He have now eyelids & mouth with some cute little teeth πŸ™‚

I did not decide yet, but i think the levels will be procedurally generated. Have a nice weekend everyone πŸ˜‰

Tako the game, coming soon !

Hi everyone, it’s me again. After a while of hard work last couple of months, i got my head fresh now to make some stuff. For sure i have less pressure at work now . wooooow !
Anyway, i resumed some of my on hold project plus some new simple stuff, and everything will be announced on time ;), plus continued working in Coated too. But couple of days i was checking GameTakeo (the biggest middle east gaming & indie community) and found a new competition started, i guess i will take part in that one too. But the point is , i started to think little a bit about GameTako itself & it’s founders, and this guys give lots of their OWN free time to make that community & this amazing competitions for us “developers” without asking for one cent !

So, i found it will be little sweet if i worked in small little thing “game” with the Tako character itself as a game hero. ! yea, it is very cool to have an Octopus as your main character, but trust me it will not be another “Octodad”, it will be simple platformed with some funny stuff. And sorry GameTako if i added a “Mouth” to the Octopus, he will look cute anyway.
The character modeled, rigged & skinned now. am just taking a while to write a nice shader to show it as gelatin creature, if it will not look that cool as i imagined, i will move to plane B and use Lambert & continue working in the rest of the game assets & development.
The game should be finished by the middle of next July “2013” for web players & then if it had lots of love & will make other versions & extend the levels more. So, be tuned & hope everyone like this Gift πŸ™‚
By the way, a funny note, i got a couple of weeks ago an interview in Japanese company here in Shanghai, and the guy who interviewed me, his name was “Tako” and it means an Octopus, but in Japanese πŸ˜€

Lots of progress soon !

Hi folks πŸ™‚

i just wanted to give a quick post, just in case somebody thought am dead πŸ˜€ No man, am still alive. I was just little (in fact) a lot busy with “Coated” trying to catch the deadline for the first world, and it is almost OK now. And it have a new music now πŸ™‚ Original tracks done for the game specially by a great composer. Another thing i wanna mention, is that a good news about the long waited project Bo**** will be shared soon. In fact more than one project will beΒ revealed soon. So, be tuned, as long as there is project, there will be lots of posts and making of πŸ™‚
